Jim McElwaine – composer, performer, producer, professor


Jim McElwaine is a professor of music and founder of the studio composition program at Purchase College. His professional writing and performing credits include more than 700 recordings on major and independent labels; multiple Grammy and Tony nominations; gold and platinum recordings; two Broadway and 11 Off Broadway orchestrations; and a Drama Desk Award for Best Orchestration (Goblin Market). He has collaborated with Joseph Papp, Charles Ludlam, Steven Spielberg, Jim Henson, Garrison Keillor, Max Morath, Barry Keating, Des McAnuff, Howard Porter, Will Lee, Chris Hills, Cuba Gooding Sr., Camille Saviola, Man Parrish, Mike Brecker, Randy Brecker, John Kilgore, Robbie Kilgore, Tinker Barfield, Bob Berg, Ray Mantilla, Ronnie Cuber, Jimi Tunnell, Joe Ferry, Jimmy Young, Janice Pendarvis, Nairobi Sailcat, Mark Berry, Luico Hopper, Danny Weiss, Raul Rodriguez, Mike Erato, Orchid Spangiafora, Rob Schwimmer, T.
